The Brief
Beyond Barriers wanted help creating a website that would resonate with parents seeking support for their child’s dyslexia, as well as schools looking for a trusted assessor. Led by Saadia, a specialist teacher and dyslexia assessor, the brand needed to balance credibility with a sense of care and reassurance.
The existing logo felt quite masculine and visually complex, so, alongside a content-rich website showcasing Saadia’s expertise, the visual identity was reimagined to better reflect the business and create a more welcoming, accessible feel.
Our Approach
Rather than seeing dyslexia as a limitation, we embraced the idea that nothing is set in stone, and the brain has an incredible ability to adapt and grow (neuroplasticity).
I explored how dyslexic individuals often perceive letterforms; first stacking the hard-angled, geometric shapes of BEYOND, then transforming these into soft, organic forms. This created openness and a sense of freedom from the box in which they had initially been contained. The result is a logomark that feels supportive, uplifting and creatively ‘out-of-the-box’—reflecting the brand’s mission to empower every learner to unlock their full potential and grow with confidence.
Headers and body text are all accessible and highly legible sans-serif fonts - clean and modern yet friendly geometric fonts for a personable but professional feel.
The palette is made up of softer blushes of rose and burgundy, to which the client had a personal connection, matched with soft off-whites for good readability on-screen.
Before
After
“I am thrilled to bits. It is beyond my wildest expectations as it is so personal and meaningful to me, but Tanya has crafted such a classy and professional platform on which to promote my skillset.
From the very beginning, Tanya took the time to truly understand me, my product, and my vision. Her attention to detail and commitment to understanding my needs set her apart as a great designer. She guided me through every step of the creative journey, making the entire process both enjoyable and quite enlightening.
Her professionalism and perfectionism were evident throughout the entire process, making me feel completely at ease. Despite being a sole trader, I felt just as valued as any large organisation she might work with, and that made all the difference.
The finished product is everything I had hoped for and more. I couldn’t be happier and would recommend Tanya without hesitation to anyone in need of quality design services.”
